Arsenal 2-2 Bayern: Rice Rescues Point But Saka Injury Worries

Declan Rice scored a late equaliser as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but the result was overshadowed by an early injury to Bukayo Saka. The Gunners extended their unbeaten run in European fixtures inside 90 minutes, which dates back to May 2025.

Saka was forced off after just 10 minutes with what appeared to be a quad injury, replaced by Eberechi Eze. The Arsenal winger's fitness will be a major concern for manager Mikel Arteta, who saw his side battle back from behind twice at the Allianz Arena.

Eze Steps Up After Early Saka Blow

Eze, who started on the bench, opened the scoring with 25 minutes gone. Martin Odegaard delivered a perfectly weighted pass over Bayern's defence, and Eze let the ball bounce before lashing it past Manuel Neuer from close range. The linesman initially raised his flag, but the goal was given upon review.

The 28-year-old had been hooked at half-time against Nottingham Forest in Arsenal's previous outing, making his match-winning contribution all the more surprising.

Kane Shines as Bayern Fight Back

Bayern replied through Alphonso Davies before Harry Kane put the German side ahead from the penalty spot, following a handball by Jurrien Timber. The England captain's goal was his 10th in successive Champions League games, leaving him one game away from equalling Cristiano Ronaldo's record of scoring in 11 consecutive matches in the competition.

Kane's next opportunity to match that record comes against Atletico Madrid, a side he has never faced. Bayern were without several key players, with Michael Olise suspended after a red card and Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala both injured. Manager Vincent Kompany was on the touchline after missing his pre-match press conference through illness.

Rice Rescues a Point for the Gunners

Rice's equaliser came after Arsenal worked the ball beautifully to cut Bayern open. The midfielder started the move by passing to Noni Madueke, who found Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede held off Jonathan Tah and sent Rice through on goal with a lovely touch, and the England midfielder showed great composure to slot home.

The draw means Arsenal remain unbeaten in European competition inside 90 minutes since May 2025, a run they were determined to protect at the Allianz Arena.
