Mikel Arteta attributed Arsenal's 3-2 loss to Manchester United to individual errors, as their Premier League lead was reduced to four points. The Gunners were dominant early, taking the lead through a goal, but a mis-hit back-pass from Martín Zubimendi gifted United an equaliser before half-time.
Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha scored stunning long-range strikes in the second half to stun the leaders. Arsenal pulled one back but missed a clear chance when Noni Madueke failed to convert from close range, with United immediately scoring again on the counter-attack.
Arteta said: 'The first error leads to the second one. There were three or four, which is very unusual today – but they are part of football and today we got punished.' He refused to criticise fans who booed at half-time, adding: 'We have to do more.'
United interim manager Michael Carrick praised his side's game intelligence after back-to-back wins over the top two. 'We understood the flow of the game,' he said. 'You've got to take a bit of control and calm things down. And we got two fantastic goals.'
