Anthony Gordon has described competing for every trophy with Barcelona as the most enjoyable challenge of his career, months after leaving Newcastle United in a £69 million summer transfer.
The 25-year-old England international spent three-and-a-half years at St James' Park before making the permanent move to Spain, having helped the Magpies win the Carabao Cup in 2025 - their first major trophy in decades. Since joining Barcelona, he has scored three goals and provided five assists across all competitions, including La Liga and the Champions League.
Reflecting on a varied career
Gordon helped Newcastle qualify for the Champions League in his first full season with the club. He is now competing for Europe's biggest prize as well as the La Liga title with Barcelona.
Speaking to Spanish publication Sport, Gordon compared the different challenges he has faced at his three clubs. "At Everton, I was fighting relegation for two or three years, which was tough," he said. "At Newcastle, we were fighting for maybe Champions League and to push up the table. And now I'm fighting with Barca for every trophy."
Three different challenges
Gordon acknowledged the value of his varied experiences. "I've had three very different challenges as far as the teams that I've played for," he added. "I really enjoyed all three because they've come with different things. They help you as a person, help you grow."
He concluded: "But I think to be competing on every front for every trophy is definitely the most enjoyable."
