Andy Robertson to Leave Liverpool at Season's End

Liverpool have announced that long-serving left-back Andy Robertson will leave the club at the end of the current season when his contract expires. The 32-year-old Scotland captain joined the Reds from Hull City in 2017 and has made 373 appearances, winning two Premier League titles, a Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and several other honours.

The club confirmed the news on Thursday night, describing Robertson as a “genuine Liverpool legend” who played a fundamental role in the team’s recent successes. Robertson becomes the second high-profile player to announce his departure this season, following Mohamed Salah’s revelation last month that he will also leave Anfield.

Robertson was linked with a move to Tottenham in the January transfer window, but talks broke down. He said he felt relief that his departure was now public, allowing him to focus on the remainder of the campaign. “The hardest bit in the last couple of weeks and months is that some people close to me at the training ground and the fans didn’t know,” he said.

He added that he would save his emotional farewell for later in the season, stating: “The time to have the emotional farewell and tell the fans what they mean to me will come closer to the end.” Liverpool’s statement emphasised that celebration of Robertson’s legacy is on hold until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
