Anderlecht open talks with Dundee United for Will Ferry

Anderlecht have opened talks with Dundee United over a deal for Will Ferry.

The Belgian side expressed their interest in the Republic of Ireland international last week and have since firmed things up in the last 24 hours, with the two clubs now in discussions over a potential transfer.

Anderlecht have already done business in Scotland this week, signing winger Oliver Antman from Rangers for just over £4 million.

Ferry was a standout as his side opened their Premiership campaign with a battling home point against Rangers. Interest in the United star is building steadily.

Scouts and admirers

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side Schalke 04 had a scout attend the game to run the rule over the 25-year-old. Schalke boss Miron Muslic is no stranger to United's head of recruitment Ross Goodwin, as they worked together at Plymouth Argyle.

United accepted a £1.7 million plus deal with add-ons from Sigma Olomouc last month. Ferry held talks with the Czech club but then decided against the move.

Other suitors

Celtic also have Ferry on a list of left-back options as they look for somebody to come in and compete with Kieran Tierney. Blackburn Rovers and Charlton are also long-term admirers of the former Southampton player.

Ferry is now in the final year of his contract.
