Amorim tells Man United to 'grow up' after Fulham draw; Fernandes blames referee for penalty miss

Ruben Amorim has urged his Manchester United side to 'grow up' after they squandered a lead to draw 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage. The United manager was frustrated that his team abandoned their attacking approach after taking a second-half lead through a Rodrigo Muniz own goal.

'I think we scored the goal and then we forgot about how we play,' Amorim said. 'We want to win so badly, and that is a good feeling. We scored a goal and everyone on the pitch was thinking: Let's hold on to the advantage and try to win the game. We have to grow up a lot as a team.'

Bruno Fernandes missed a first-half penalty, firing the ball over the bar. The United captain attributed the miss to referee Chris Kavanagh bumping into him before his run-up. 'It upset me because the referee didn't apologise. That is what triggered me in that moment, but that's not the excuse for missing the penalty,' Fernandes said.

Fulham manager Marco Silva praised his side's resilience after they fell behind. 'Our reaction and composure and mentality from the boys was top,' he said. Silva also stressed the need for new signings, stating the club needs at least three more players before the transfer window closes.
