Agent Quashes Real Madrid Transfer Speculation for Liverpool's Szoboszlai

The representative of Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has moved decisively to dismiss mounting rumours of a potential transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid. This comes after recent comments from Hungary's national team manager, Marco Rossi, who claimed that Szoboszlai has always harboured ambitions of playing for the Bernabeu club.

Hungary Manager's Comments Fuel Transfer Talk

Speculation regarding Szoboszlai's future intensified significantly following remarks made by his international manager, Marco Rossi. Rossi publicly stated that the 25-year-old Liverpool star has long "dreamed" of representing Real Madrid. These comments were further amplified when Real Madrid's own Vinicius Junior revealed his close friendship with Szoboszlai, noting they exchange regular messages.

This combination of factors led to widespread media reports suggesting a summer move to the Spanish capital was a genuine possibility for the Hungarian captain, who has been a standout performer for Liverpool during a season of inconsistent results.

Agent Issues Firm Denial and Reaffirms Liverpool Commitment

However, Szoboszlai's agent, Matyas Esterhazy, has poured cold water on these links in an exclusive interview with Hungarian publication NB1. Esterhazy insisted his client is not actively seeking a transfer away from Anfield.

"It's completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to talk about what's next and if there's something higher," Esterhazy explained. "So at the moment, to talk about what will happen in the summer in my opinion is not correct. Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere."

Contract Talks Underway Amidst Prolific Season

Adding weight to the agent's dismissal of transfer rumours is the confirmation that Szoboszlai is currently engaged in discussions with Liverpool's hierarchy regarding a new contract. The midfielder, who joined from RB Leipzig for £60 million in 2023, still has two and a half years remaining on his existing deal.

Szoboszlai himself recently addressed the contract situation, stating that while no agreement has been reached, he remains content at the club. "Nothing yet, to be honest. Nothing. From now on… it is not in my hands," he said. "There is no progression but if the right offer comes then let's see. We will see. I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans, let's see what the future holds."

The player's happiness on Merseyside is complemented by his outstanding form. Szoboszlai has scored in his last two appearances, bringing his season tally to 10 goals, alongside seven assists. This marks his most productive campaign since arriving at Liverpool, solidifying his key role in Arne Slot's squad.

As the Reds prepare for a crucial period of Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League fixtures, the focus remains firmly on the pitch, with off-field speculation now firmly addressed by the player's camp.
