Aaron Ramsey has issued a heartfelt statement revealing that his beloved dog, Halo, is now presumed dead, describing the ordeal as something that will 'continue to haunt' his family. The Wales captain and his wife Colleen spoke out four weeks after the 10-year-old dog vanished in Mexico.
The Ramseys offered a substantial reward and mounted a extensive search, but they now believe they were lied to during the hunt. In a message shared by Colleen, the family said: 'We don't think we will ever know what happened. This will continue to haunt us.'
The couple, who have three children, said they have had to accept that Halo has 'most likely passed away'. They thanked supporters for their prayers and sympathy over the past three weeks.
Ramsey, 34, had been on compassionate leave from Mexican club Pumas UNAM and has reportedly left the country. There has been no official confirmation that his contract has been terminated.
The midfielder had previously spoken about how much Halo meant to his family, and was said to be 'distraught' during the search. Colleen posted a moving video montage of the dog, saying: 'You guys didn't know Halo much so let me tell you a bit about her.'
