Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield this afternoon with as many as 14 players potentially missing the match due to injury or suspension. Victory for the Reds would move them to within three points of the Gunners in the Premier League table.
Team News and Injury Updates
Andoni Iraola confirmed on Friday that Victor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai "have a chance" to feature for Liverpool. "I think they have a chance," Iraola said. "They have a chance. But I don't know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days so I think we have a chance, yes."
The pair have been missing since the win over Brentford last month. Jeremie Frimpong remains sidelined with a muscle injury, and Jeremy Jacquet was not pictured in training on Friday. Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni are all long-term absentees.
Arsenal's Absentees and Potential Returns
For Arsenal, Riccardo Calafiori, Declan Rice and Christos Tzolis could all return, but Max Dowman will miss the game as he begins a three-match suspension after being sent off against Fleetwood. William Saliba remains a long-term absentee, while Bukayo Saka will also miss the match as he continues to recover from the quad injury picked up during the 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich.
"He needed another scan to see how the amount of fluid that was there was resolving," Arteta said when asked about Saka. "[We needed to know] whether the tendon is touched and how badly it is touched. That's all fine, and afterwards we'll know more about it. We want to have him as quick as possible. The player is desperate, he's feeling much better than he was a few days ago."
Recent Form and Head-to-Head
Arsenal have not won a league match at Anfield in over 14 years, last getting the better of the Reds in September 2012. They head into the game on the back of a surprise League Cup penalty shootout defeat to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.
Liverpool overcame Chelsea in the same competition the following night, winning on penalties after the tie finished 1-1. Noni Madueke could return for Arsenal after missing the midweek defeat. "We don't know yet, we'll have a training session tomorrow," Arteta said. "[We'll] see if he can complete that full session tomorrow and as I said, I will know whether he's available or not."
