Galloway Activity Centre has unveiled Scotland's tallest swing, a 131-foot thrill ride that launches thrill-seekers from 40 feet in the air. The swing, which can accommodate three participants at a time, officially opens to the public on Saturday.
Centre director Richard Herman expressed his delight at introducing a first for engineering and design in adventure activities. He believes the swing will attract visitors from across the UK and beyond, boosting local tourism by up to 1,500 new visitors.
The swing will be officially opened by Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson and VisitScotland’s Paula Ward. Carson praised the innovation, calling it another first for Dumfries and Galloway in tourism. Ward described the swing as a perfect example of the tourism industry embracing new ideas to compete globally.
Participants mount the swing via a wooden buggy, which is then wheeled away, leaving them dangling in mid-air. They are winched up to the maximum height of 40 feet before being released for a thrilling descent.
