Declan Rice has withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic. The Arsenal midfielder's absence is reportedly due to load management rather than a specific injury.
Who else has pulled out?
Rice is one of five Premier League players to have withdrawn from Thomas Tuchel's latest squad. Cole Palmer, Tino Livramento, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have also pulled out.
World Cup injury background
Rice had been managing a neural hamstring issue during England's most recent camp at the World Cup. Despite that, he has featured in every Arsenal match this season, apart from the Carabao Cup third-round victory over Ipswich.
Rice on his workload
Having played 69 games during the 2025/26 season, the midfielder believes he can sustain such a demanding schedule. Speaking after Arsenal's Champions League win over Napoli, Rice said: "I think for the last six seasons, even since my West Ham days when it was in Europe, I've played 60 plus every season. So I think it is sustainable because I've shown that I can do it. It's just about maintaining it, maintaining the level and the consistency of the performances."
