Harry Kane has been praised for his quick thinking after Bayern Munich team-mate Jamal Musiala collapsed mid-game for the second time in four days. Musiala, 23, dropped to the turf just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute during Bayern's 4-2 win away to Heidenheim on Tuesday in a pre-season friendly.
England captain Kane spotted Musiala going down and quickly gestured for both sets of players to come over, urging them to form a shield around the midfielder. Medical staff ran onto the pitch to treat Musiala, who was thankfully able to stand up and walk off under his own steam.
Fans praise Kane's compassion
On social media, fans hailed Kane for his compassionate actions. "Expect nothing less from Harry, classy," one user posted on X. "Kane is class on and off the field," another added.
There was a similarly frightening situation during Bayern's 6-0 victory in a friendly with RB Leipzig on Saturday. Musiala began to look disorientated and started falling to the ground before two team-mates, Ismael Saibari and Joshua Kimmich, ran over to help.
Musiala reveals diagnosis
After the Heidenheim game, the Germany international revealed that he's been diagnosed with treatable absence seizures. "First things first - I'm doing fine," Musiala wrote on Instagram.
"I am particularly grateful for your messages and your support! I understand that many of you are worried. I want to put your minds at ease today and explain a few things: I have been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but well-treatable absences (absence seizures) caused by a neurological dysfunction."
"These can lead to the kind of moments that happened recently, such as against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim. I know these might look scary at first glance - but right now, they're just part of my daily life."
Musiala optimistic about recovery
"I am receiving the best possible medical care and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my personal circle are always by my side, supporting me on this journey."
"Most importantly, there is no additional health risk beyond this. In close consultation and regular communication with experts, it was my personal wish to face this challenge and - with clearance from neurological specialists - to keep focusing on what helps my recovery most: simply living my everyday life and continuing to pursue my passion for playing football."
"I have taken full responsibility for this decision. Overall, I feel very good about it and am on the right track. What helps me most on this path is to keep chasing victories and titles alongside my team and with your fantastic support."
"I hope this helps you understand my situation better. At the same time, I kindly ask for your understanding that I wish to keep this matter private, within the circle of my closest confidants, the club, and the medical experts."
