Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel remains intent on leaving the club and has held a meeting with Bayern Munich over a potential transfer, while club legend Paul Scholes has lashed out at Martin Keown over the Manchester City cheating scandal.
Gabriel's transfer demands revealed
The 16-year-old striker, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, requested to leave United in September. Despite initial hopes he might stay, he remains determined to depart and has been in talks with a top European side.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich held discussions with Gabriel's team on Monday, according to Sky Germany. Heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG are also believed to be keeping tabs on his situation.
Gabriel has determined his future lies beyond Old Trafford following what his representatives have allegedly viewed as unfulfilled pledges regarding game time. His agents are said to have made outrageous demands, including that the child feature for at least 20 minutes in United's fixtures against Sabah, Brighton and Bournemouth before entering talks over a scholarship agreement.
Carrick's difficult start
It has compounded a difficult start to the season for Michael Carrick, whose side are slumped in 12th in the Premier League and already out of the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils return to the pitch on Saturday against bottom-of-the-table Tottenham Hotspur, knowing nothing less than three points is good enough if they are to try and break into the top 10.
Scholes hits back at Keown
Manchester City being found guilty of violating the Premier League's financial regulations across a nine-year span has prompted widespread debate over what constitutes appropriate punishment for the table-toppers.
According to United legend Paul Scholes, removing the titles they secured between 2009 and 2018 and retrospectively handing them to the runners-up from those campaigns would be the correct course of action. City claimed the Premier League for the first time in the 2011/12 campaign after pipping United on goal difference on the season's final day.
Scholes featured in 17 matches that term and posted on X: "Keep hearing ex-team-mates say they want trophies taken off them, but they don't want their medals... f*** that, I'm a greedy b******, I want my medal."
Scholes, 51, would collect a 12th league medal under such circumstances, which Arsenal icon Martin Keown described as "hollow". He told talkSPORT: "Receiving another medal is a bit hollow. How many does he need? He's got a dozen or so already, but I can't tell him how to behave or think. For me, I just think it should be void. I think if we're going to take away Man City's trophies throughout that period it should be made void."
Scholes didn't agree with Keown's viewpoint and responded to his former adversary on Instagram: "And you can do one with that 'void season' nonsense."
