Belgian cyclist Tim Wellens secured a stunning victory in Stage 15 of the Tour de France, showcasing his climbing prowess in the Pyrenees. Meanwhile, defending champion Tadej Pogačar held firm to retain the yellow jersey, despite fierce competition from his rivals.

A Tactical Masterclass

Wellens, riding for Lotto-Soudal, broke away early in the 191.3km stage from Céret to Andorra la Vella. He executed a flawless solo effort, crossing the finish line with a comfortable lead. "This win means everything to me," Wellens said after the race. "I knew I had to take my chance today, and I gave it everything."

Pogačar Holds Strong

Slovenian superstar Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) faced relentless attacks from Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) and Rigoberto Urán (EF Education-Nippo) but managed to defend his overall lead. The stage tested the peloton with three brutal climbs, including the iconic Col de Beixalis.

"It was a tough day, but my team did an incredible job," Pogačar remarked. "I’m feeling strong, and we’ll keep fighting."
