Bluestone National Park Resort, a popular family-friendly holiday destination on the Pembrokeshire coast, has unveiled two new zipline experiences just in time for the summer season. The resort's Steep Ravine outdoor activities area will reopen on Saturday, 23 May, following its closure due to severe storm damage sustained in 2024.
New Zipline Adventures
As part of the restoration efforts, the park has introduced two guided zipline experiences. The first, Summit Flight, is a high-speed 279-metre zipline that sends guests racing across the ravine. The second, Double Glide, features shorter zips designed to build confidence for younger or first-time participants. Both sessions last approximately 45 to 60 minutes, including briefing, equipment fitting, and the ride itself.
There is no age limit for the activity, but participants must meet weight requirements between 30kg and 120kg. The ziplines will operate for guests staying until 16 July, with potential additional dates to be announced.
Steep Ravine Reopening
The reopening of Steep Ravine also brings back Camp Smokey, a rustic outdoor dining spot serving lunches, barbecues, and drinks, as well as marshmallow toasting around a fire. Evening entertainment returns with Smokey Joe’s Shindig, featuring family sing-alongs and live performances.
James McNamara, a director at Bluestone, described the reopening as “a new chapter” for the Ravine. “We know how special the Steep Ravine is to so many of our guests and closing it back in 2024 was not a decision we took lightly,” he said. “The storm damage meant the area was no longer safe, so it was important that we took the time to restore the Ravine carefully and responsibly, working closely with specialists throughout the process. Every step has been taken with care for the landscape and its future, while making sure guests can once again enjoy everything that makes this place so special.”
