Gwyneth Paltrow, the 38-year-old actress married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has revealed she suffered a series of health scares over the past year. Six months ago, a bone scan following a fractured leg showed that she had a precursor to osteoporosis, the bone-thinning condition.
The health troubles did not stop there. While learning guitar for her new film, Country Strong, Paltrow experienced severe pain in her fingers. She feared the worst, suspecting she might have cancer. “My fingers wouldn’t respond,” she said. “I thought: ‘I must have all these atrophied muscles.’ I was like: ‘I think I have cancer.’”
However, a visit to the doctor revealed she had simply pulled a muscle. Reflecting on her anxiety, she admitted, “What a nerd.” Despite the scare, Paltrow continues to promote her film and maintain her health regimen.
