Harry Brook's blistering 12-ball 36 helped England chase down a revised target of 168 to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the second T20 international, securing the series with a game to spare. England were initially set 190, but a rain break reduced the target after the hosts posted 189 for five.
Brook emerged with England needing 87 from 7.5 overs and unleashed a flurry of boundaries over the off side, including three sixes off Matheesha Pathirana, to turn the chase. Tom Banton anchored the innings with an unbeaten 54, continuing his strong form in the middle order. Sam Curran hit the winning runs with two balls remaining.
Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka (34) and Kusal Mendis (32) laid a solid platform, but Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson struck key wickets to slow the momentum. Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer were expensive, with Archer having two catches dropped. Pavan Rathnayake top-scored with 40 off 22 balls.
Jos Buttler played a fluent 39 on his record 402nd appearance for England, but rain interrupted the chase at 57 for two. The revised equation required 111 from 9.4 overs, and Brook's assault made the difference. England now lead the three-match series 2-0.
