Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has traded ring glory for real-life heroism after dramatically rescuing a man from a smoke-filled building in his hometown of Hyde.
The 45-year-old boxing legend sprang into action when he noticed smoke pouring from a property while driving through the Greater Manchester town. Without hesitation, the "Hitman" abandoned his vehicle and rushed toward the danger.
Smoke and Emergency Response
"I was driving through Hyde and saw all this smoke coming from a building," Hatton recounted. "I pulled over, jumped out of the car, and ran toward it. There was a gentleman inside who was a bit worse for wear."
The boxing hero found the disoriented man struggling in the smoke-filled environment and immediately guided him to safety. Hatton remained at the scene, coordinating with emergency services as they arrived to handle the situation.
Community Pride and Modest Response
Despite his courageous actions, the former two-weight world champion remained characteristically humble about his intervention. "I might be a boxer but I'm not a firefighter," he modestly stated, though his quick thinking undoubtedly prevented a potential tragedy.
Local residents have since praised Hatton's community spirit and bravery, with many taking to social media to celebrate their hometown hero's latest victory - this time outside the ring.
The incident has cemented Hatton's status not just as a boxing legend but as a genuine local hero willing to put others' safety before his own.
