YouTube star turned professional boxer Jake Paul has provided fans with a health update from his hospital bed, following a surgical procedure to repair a double broken jaw.
Brutal Knockout Leads to Surgery
The significant injury was sustained during his high-profile bout against former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Sunday 21 December 2025. Paul was knocked out in the sixth round of the contest, a result that handed him a decisive defeat.
In the aftermath, it was confirmed that the impact of the fight had caused two fractures in his jaw. To stabilise the injury, Paul underwent an operation where surgeons fitted two titanium plates to support the broken bone.
Recovery Road Begins in Miami
Sharing the news directly with his followers on the social media platform X, Paul confirmed the surgery had been completed successfully. He reported that the procedure went smoothly, though he is contending with expected post-operative pain and stiffness.
The 28-year-old is currently recovering at Miami University Hospital, where his initial recovery phase mandates a strict liquid diet. Paul stated he must consume only liquids for the next seven days as part of the crucial early healing process.
Pride in Performance and Future Plans
Despite the painful loss and the severe injury, Jake Paul struck a defiant and proud tone in his update. He expressed pride in what he called a resilient performance against the seasoned boxer Joshua.
Looking ahead, Paul indicated a strategic shift in his boxing ambitions. He suggested his future in the sport will see him return to fighting in his own weight class, with the clear goal of pursuing a cruiserweight world title. This move would mark a departure from facing much heavier opponents like Joshua.
The fight itself saw Paul employ evasive tactics early on, frustrating Joshua's attempts to land clean shots. However, Joshua's power ultimately told as he secured the victory. Notably, Joshua's own performance in the bout also attracted some criticism from boxing pundits for not ending the contest sooner.
