Jake Paul has offered his thoughts and prayers after Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal car crash in Nigeria. The 36-year-old boxer was taken to hospital following the incident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which left two people dead.
Joshua, who defeated Paul in a controversial bout earlier this month, sustained minor injuries in the crash. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that Joshua was 'OK' and being treated, though further details were not provided.
'Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ and anyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident,' Paul posted on X.
The crash occurred around 12:00 local time near Sagamu, Ogun State, when a Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua collided with a stationary truck. The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed that five adult males were involved, with two fatalities and one injury. The injured, including Joshua, were evacuated for medical attention.
Joshua, an Olympic gold medallist for Great Britain, was visiting his parents' homeland. The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division has been notified for further investigation.
