British boxing icon Ricky Hatton has delivered a blistering rebuttal to Amir Khan, following Khan's controversial critique of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury's training methods.
Hatton did not hold back in his assessment, labelling Khan's comments as profoundly "disrespectful" to a fighter of Fury's calibre and achievements in the sport.
The feud ignited after Khan suggested on social media that Fury's preparation for his recent undisputed title clash with Oleksandr Usyk was subpar, indirectly contributing to his first professional defeat. Khan questioned the structure and discipline within Fury's camp.
Hatton, in a passionate defence of his fellow Mancunian, eviscerated Khan's stance. "For Amir Khan to say that about Tyson Fury is a bit disrespectful," Hatton stated. He pointedly reminded the public of Khan's own knockout losses, asking, "Who is Amir Khan to question Tyson's training camp? Has Amir Khan ever been known for his defence?"
Highlighting the stark contrast in their accomplishments, Hatton emphasised Fury's status as a boxing great. "Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time... He's been a great champion. He's given us some of the best nights of our lives."
The exchange underscores the intense, often personal, rivalries that exist within the sport's elite circles. Hatton concluded that Khan's own record makes him an unlikely authority to critique a fighter of Fury's pedigree, solidifying a very public falling out between two of Britain's most recognisable boxing names.
