Tottenham injury update: Kulusevski, Porro, Simons latest

Tottenham Hotspur have flown to Spain for a training camp in Marbella to work on fitness ahead of their next Premier League match against Coventry. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi will hope to get his squad into optimal shape during the nine-day break between games.

A disjointed summer has left Tottenham short on fitness across the squad. The club have no wins from their opening six top-flight games, with only three points and three goals despite an ambitious transfer spend in excess of £300million for De Zerbi's first full season in charge.

A spirited 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Manchester United last weekend lifted them off the foot of the table. The much-improved performance looked to have meant nothing due to profligacy and a chronic lack of cutting edge, until Dominic Solanke's deft equalising header in stoppage time. That came after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for headbutting Luke Shaw.

Must-win clash with Coventry

Spurs must build on that morale boost at home to Coventry on Monday night. Frank Lampard's newly-promoted side are no pushovers after back-to-back wins, including a shock 4-1 rout of Newcastle last time out.

Here is all the latest Tottenham injury news and return dates, including Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Mykhailo Mudryk, Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert.

Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski

First-choice right-back Porro pulled out of the Spain squad at the start of the recent extended three-week international break with a hamstring injury picked up early in the 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa. He was initially expected to be sidelined for four weeks, which could see him return against Coventry or Chelsea. Porro did not feature against United, but he is not expected to be out for much longer. "Pedro - I think - is not [out] for many games," De Zerbi said ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. Potential return date: Saturday October 24, vs Chelsea (A).

Kulusevski has not played a single competitive match for club or country since May last year amid a continued struggle with a complex kneecap injury. After another setback following his recent return to first-team training, the Swedish international is closing in on a comeback. Standard Sport reported that Kulusevski recently featured in his first game for 17 months and more than 500 days, playing on a team of senior players against opponents made up of Tottenham's Under-21s and U18s in an internal friendly held behind closed doors at Hotspur Way. De Zerbi revealed that Kulusevski would travel to Old Trafford, but he was not named in the matchday squad. He was spotted continuing to train in Enfield on Tuesday before the trip to Spain. Potential return date: November.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Xavi Simons

Mudryk was a surprise loan signing from rivals Chelsea on Deadline Day during the summer transfer window. He made his debut off the bench as Spurs drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest on September 5. However, he then suffered an ankle injury in training, one lamented as "stupid" by De Zerbi, expected to keep him out for around six to eight weeks. Mudryk should be back later this month, but he will not be able to face his parent club on October 24. He could return against Crystal Palace on Halloween. Potential return date: Saturday October 31, vs Crystal Palace (H).

Simons has been out of action since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the win at Wolves in April. He was ruled out for the remainder of last term and the World Cup following surgery, and he has not played yet this campaign. Simons has been out in the United States rehabilitating, and he is likely to be back after the turn of the year. Potential return date: Early 2027.

Wilson Odobert

Odobert ruptured his left ACL during the home defeat by Newcastle in February. A nine-month recovery time would have him on course to play again in late November, but there have been recent reports suggesting he could be pushing to feature before then. Potential return date: November 2026.
