Mexican professional wrestler Diana La Cazadora, whose real name was Alma Corina Gutiérrez Villarreal, has died at the age of 48 following a nearly month-long battle with a severe lung infection.
Hospitalization and Surgery
She had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Monterrey, Mexico, where she underwent complex surgery. Concerns about her health first emerged on 21 July, when reports said she had been admitted with a lung infection. She underwent surgery two days later, on 23 July. Her daughter, Dalina, confirmed her passing on Saturday, 8 August.
Career and Achievements
Hailing from Ciudad Madero, Diana began her athletic career in her teens, initially pursuing Olympic gymnastics before training in various professional wrestling disciplines. She made her professional debut in 1997, competing primarily for Lucha Libre Femenil (LLF) before moving to Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
Her major titles included the Monterrey Women's Championship, the LLF Junior Championship, and the LLF Tag Team Championship, which she won with Nikki Roxx.
Television and Legacy
Outside wrestling, Diana worked as a traffic reporter in Monterrey, covering accidents, congestion, and road conditions. During one assignment, she was involved in a crash that caused a severe leg injury, keeping her out of the ring for months.
One supporter wrote online: "I wish this were a horrible nightmare, but I know it isn't. I saw her wrestle many times at the now-defunct Arena Coliseo in Monterrey. Rest in peace, Diana La Cazadora."
