Keely Hodgkinson Reveals Marriage and Baby Plans by Age 34

Olympic gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson has opened up about her desire to get married and start a family, revealing her timeline for the next decade. The 24-year-old, who won gold in the 800m at the Paris 2024 Olympics, shared her plans during a candid interview with Welsh sprinter Jeremiah Azu on his YouTube channel.

Family Plans Take Priority Over Track

When asked by Azu what one thing she wants to achieve in the next 10 years, Hodgkinson responded: "Mine is not related to track at all. Mine is I'd like to start a family and get married. That's a big thing for me. I'll be 34, I'd like to think I'd had a baby by then and I really look forward to that point of my life at some point."

The Atherton-born runner previously touched on her romantic life in October 2024, revealing to The Times that her three-year relationship with a fellow runner had ended due to long-distance challenges. "He lived in Texas for a bit, then in Italy, then London. There was always a distance and, because I do what I do and put that first, we could go weeks, months and not see each other," she said, adding, "I'm not really interested in dating right now. I've never been on the apps. I like meeting people in real life."

Recent Withdrawal from British Athletics Championship

Hodgkinson returned to competition last week at the British Athletics Championship for the 400m final but walked off the track moments before the race. She took her place in lane nine but appeared distressed, with officials gathering around her. She later explained on social media: "I wasn't feeling 100% standing on the start line, so I made the tough decision to step away and not race. I didn't want to risk anything ahead of this summer." She posted on Instagram: "Leaving champs healthy! Sometimes the hard decision is saying no, body wasn't feeling 100[%], exciting summer ahead."

Rise to Stardom

Hodgkinson shot to fame at the Paris 2024 Olympics, claiming gold in the 800m after taking silver in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Games. She is now one of the most recognisable figures in British athletics, with fans following both her track career and personal life. The 25-year-old Azu, who is the 2025 World Indoor Champion over 60 metres, conducted the interview.
