The index evaluated 173 cities worldwide based on education, stability, healthcare, infrastructure, and culture.
Copenhagen's Perfect Scores
Copenhagen achieved perfect scores of 100 out of 100 in the categories of stability, infrastructure, and education. The city also scored above 95 in the remaining two categories, healthcare and culture, cementing its position as the most liveable city globally.
The Economist Intelligence Unit stated: "In our 2026 survey, Copenhagen retained pole position for the second year running, scoring a perfect 100 out of 100 in three categories and above 95 in the other two, with Vienna and Melbourne close behind."
Walkability and Healthcare Excellence
In addition to its liveability ranking, Copenhagen has been recognized as one of the world's most walkable cities in 2026, according to a study by Time Out magazine. The city is described as "compact and mostly flat" with "clearly marked pedestrian zones and elevated pavements." It is also home to Strøget, Europe's first and longest pedestrian-only street.
