Swimming star Adam Ramsay-Peaty is preparing to compete in the Commonwealth Games, less than a year after his much-publicised wedding to Holly Ramsay. The 31-year-old has competed at the last three Commonwealth Games and claimed four gold medals. His first two triumphs came at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he won the 100m breaststroke and relay medley golds and finished second in the 50m breaststroke. Ramsay-Peaty is aiming to replicate that winning feeling, with Glasgow once again hosting the Commonwealth Games.
Family rift
The swimmer married Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, in December 2025, and the couple are expecting their first child together. However, there was scrutiny on Ramsay-Peaty's relationship with his own family ahead of the ceremony. The rift between Ramsay-Peaty and his family was evident by the swimmer reportedly banning his parents and other relatives from the wedding, with only his sister Bethany attending the ceremony. His mother Caroline has been vocal about how their relationship has changed since her son met his new in-laws.
"I know he feels I am not good enough for his new family," she said. "He's under Gordon's clutches. I can't help but feel like they are pulling him away from me. Their family is very insular, it's their group, and it's as if he is being groomed by them. Adam has broken my heart but I love my son and always will, he's still my little boy, and I hope his marriage is a good one and I hope he has a happy life like his mum and dad have."
It appears the pair remained estranged, with claims emerging over how Caroline learned of the couple's baby news last month. A source told Daily Mail: "Caroline was on holiday. She received a very formal text. We don't want to divulge the content but it was brief and to the point. It was sent as Holly posted the news on Instagram. There was no happy gathering, no phone call, just a brief mobile message."
Meanwhile, celebrity chef Ramsay has claimed he wants to build bridges with his son-in-law's parents. "I would like to go up to Nottingham with Tana and see them and draw a line in the sand," he said to the Daily Mail in February. "It was Adam and Holly's wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that. There's stuff they need to sort out as parents. That's nothing to do with Tana and me. But we are very mindful we want to move on and allow Holly and Adam to continue starting their lives together."
Wedding scuffle
On the wedding day, there were some unsavoury scenes as photographers attempted to get a glimpse of the happy couple. Hello! Magazine reported that "photographers and security clashed" as Holly attempted to enter the church alongside her dad. It was claimed that the security workers and photographers "came to blows in a narrow alleyway". Described as being "jostled around", Gordon and Holly found themselves in the middle of this scuffle shortly before entering the church.
Teammate uninvited
Former Team GB and Jamaica swimmer Michael Gunning was another notable absentee from Ramsay-Peaty's wedding. Now working as a TV presenter, Gunning was reportedly uninvited from the ceremony, despite previously attending the couple's engagement party. A source speaking to The Sun said: "It's not just Adam's family who've been affected by the wedding feud, some old friends have been too. Michael was once very close to Adam and Holly and even attended their engagement party last year. But he was uninvited from the wedding as he got too close to Caroline, who has been vocal about being estranged from her son."
