UK Government Issues Verdict on Harry and Meghan's Security Arrangement
UK Government Verdict on Harry and Meghan's Security

The UK Government has insisted its security measures are "rigorous and proportionate" as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to relocate this month. It follows reports the couple's children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will attend a British school in September, according to Daily Telegraph.

Planned Move Back to Britain

Reports suggest Harry and Meghan are planning a move back to Britain, six years after they moved to Montecito in the United States. As reported by Express, the pair and their two children are anticipated to relocate later this month to a non-royal residence, thought to be outside London.

Government Response on Security

In response to the news, the Home Office stated: "The UK Government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security."

The Home Secretary does not have a hand in security arrangements for members of the royal family or other significant public figures. Security decisions fall under the remit of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).

Role of Ravec

Ravec's membership comprises the Home Office, Metropolitan Police and royal household, who collectively advise the independent chair in decision-making. Their advice is guided by expert risk assessments and in accordance with Government policy.
