Ian Murray sacked by Morton after winless start to season

Ian Murray has been relieved of his duties at Greenock Morton after a winless start to the season. The former St Mirren, Dumbarton, Raith Rovers and Airdrieonians boss took up the reins at Cappielow in January following Dougie Imrie's departure to Stark's Park.

Poor run leaves Ton bottom

Murray's side finished just four points above relegated basement club Ross County last season. Record Sport understands he has now lost his job following a disastrous start to the current campaign. The Ton sit rock bottom of the Championship with just one point from their first eight matches, shipping 15 goals and scoring just four.

Manager's record and previous exit

The 45-year-old departs the Cappielow club with just four wins from 29 matches in total. Murray finds himself out of work for the second time in the space of two years after getting the sack at Raith in August 2024. He had led the Fife side to the brink of promotion to the Premiership before they were thumped 6-1 on aggregate by Ross County in the play-off final.
