A double murder investigation has been launched after two people were found dead with knife injuries at separate addresses in Westminster, London.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the deaths are being treated as linked. A 45-year-old woman was discovered at a property in Ashbridge Street on Thursday night, and a 59-year-old man was found dead in the early hours of Friday at a property in nearby Jerome Crescent.
The man's relatives have been informed and are receiving specialist support, police said. Crime scenes remain in place at both locations, and additional police resources and patrols have been deployed in the area.
Westminster Police Commander Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards said: 'We know that local residents will be shocked and troubled by this news.'
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the homicide inquiry, said: 'At this early stage we are retaining an open mind concerning motive, but at this stage we are treating these crimes as linked.'
