A double murder investigation has been launched after two people were found dead with knife injuries at separate addresses in Westminster, London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the deaths are being treated as linked.
A 45-year-old woman was discovered dead at a property in Ashbridge Street on Thursday night. Hours later, in the early hours of Friday, a 59-year-old man was found dead at a nearby property in Jerome Crescent. The man's relatives have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, Westminster Police Commander, acknowledged the shock to the local community. 'We know that local residents will be shocked and troubled by this news,' he said, adding that crime scenes have been established and additional police resources and patrols deployed throughout the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the homicide inquiry, stated: 'At this early stage we are retaining an open mind concerning motive, but at this stage we are treating these crimes as linked.' The investigation continues.
