Vice President JD Vance has recounted an awkward Oval Office moment in which Donald Trump crudely mocked a politician's manhood by referencing his small shoe size. Speaking at a Christmas party honouring Sylvester Stallone, Vance said Trump paused a serious discussion to focus on footwear.
According to Vance, Trump declared that shoes were “something much more important” and criticised the vice president and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for having “s****y shoes.” The president then produced a shoe catalogue and promised to gift each man four pairs, asking for their sizes.
Rubio said he wore size 11.5, Vance size 13. But when an unnamed politician replied “seven,” Trump leaned back and said, “You know you can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size.” Vance declined to name the politician to avoid embarrassing him, adding a joke about his wife, Usha, not commenting on the matter.
The incident echoes a 2016 exchange between Trump and Rubio during the Republican primaries, when Rubio mocked Trump’s hand size, implying a link to his anatomy. Trump later insisted at a debate that “there's no problem” with his hands or anything else.
