President Donald Trump went on a posting spree on Truth Social on Sunday, sharing AI-generated images of former President Barack Obama and other political enemies in prison, as well as a picture of bombs being dropped on Iranian ships.
Trump shared what appeared to be mugshots of Obama, former FBI Director James Comey, and six others, arranged in a style similar to the opening credits of The Brady Bunch, with the title “The Shady Bunch.” He wrote: “This is a bad (Sick!) group of people. Very destructive to our great Nation. Caused tremendous damage through Weaponization!”
The 79-year-old president also posted images of himself with Chinese President Xi Jinping, claiming “President Trump gets YOUNGER,” before sharing an AI-generated image of bombs falling on Iranian ships with the word “Adios” across the top. The spree comes as the US and Iran reportedly near a deal to end the months-long war, which would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, though Iran has not yet agreed to give up its uranium.
Trump said on social media that negotiations were “proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner” and that the US-Iran relationship was becoming “much more professional and productive.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio, visiting India, said “significant progress” had been made, while Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian told state TV they were ready “to assure the world that we are not after a nuclear weapon.” However, Iran’s embassy in India insisted on Tehran’s “inalienable” right to nuclear technology.
Trump has been posting heavily on Truth Social recently, with 565 posts in April—about 18 per day, a third overnight—more than double his April 2018 total of 250. Some posts have drawn backlash, including an AI image of him as Jesus. The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.
