The cost of attending a VIP event for President Donald Trump's meme coin investors has plummeted by more than 80% compared to last year, according to a new report from the Financial Times.
Event Details and Price Drop
The top 297 holders of the $TRUMP meme coin have been invited to Mar-a-Lago this weekend for a 'Crypto and Business Conference.' The event is expected to feature remarks from Trump, boxer Mike Tyson, and author Tony Robbins, among others, as stated on the event's website. The 'top 29 qualifying VIPs' will also receive invitations to a 'VIP reception' with the president.
However, the Financial Times analysis reveals that the threshold to qualify for VIP tickets has fallen dramatically. This year, the median holding required was $539,000 worth of $TRUMP, down from $3.28 million last year—a decline of over 80%. This suggests waning trader interest in the cryptocurrency.
Trump's Schedule and Political Context
According to his public schedule, President Trump is expected to speak at the conference on Saturday afternoon before returning to Washington, D.C., for the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner that evening. A White House official described the event as a personal conference that Trump is attending in a personal capacity.
Earlier this month, three Senate Democrats sent a letter to Bill Zanker of Fight Fight Fight LLC, the event organizer, requesting more information about Trump's role in planning, promoting, and profiting from the conference. The lawmakers emphasized the need for Congress to fully understand how Trump and his family are benefiting from his cryptocurrency ventures.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle responded to The Independent, stating: 'President Trump only acts in the best interests of the American public – which is why they overwhelmingly re-elected him to this office, despite years of lies and false accusations against him and his businesses from the fake news media.' The Independent has also sought comment from the conference organizers.
Background on $TRUMP Meme Coin
Trump launched the meme coin shortly before his inauguration in January 2025. Initially, the coin's value rose to over $44 but soon declined, according to ABC News. Trump previously spoke at a black-tie gala for top investors last May at his Virginia golf club, which temporarily boosted the coin's value before it fell again. At one point last month, its value dropped below $3.
Other Trump Family Crypto Ventures
The Trump family is also linked to World Liberty Financial, which faces fraud allegations from billionaire Justin Sun. Sun filed a lawsuit earlier this week, claiming the company is on the 'verge of collapse.' World Liberty Financial co-founder and CEO Zach Witkoff dismissed the claims as 'entirely meritless' in a social media post. The organization was founded alongside Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
