Trump Spokesman Denies Hospital Rumours Amid Health Speculation

Donald Trump's personal spokesman, Steven Cheung, has been forced to deny rumours that the US President is in hospital, after speculation erupted online on Saturday. The White House announced at 11:08am that Trump would not make any public appearances for the rest of the day, an unusual move as he typically heads to Mar-a-Lago for golf at weekends.

Cheung posted on X: 'There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him.'

Trump's health has been a focus throughout his second term, with Americans examining his public gaffes, physical constraints, and reported medical issues. His previous visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was in October for an MRI scan, which he described as 'perfect'. The scan was part of a 'scheduled follow-up evaluation' and included advanced imaging and preventative health assessments, according to presidential physician Dr Sean Barbabella.

In 2025, the White House announced that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition where leg veins fail to return blood to the heart. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed the diagnosis after Trump's physician noticed swelling in his legs. Dr Barbabella described the condition as 'benign and common' among older individuals.

Trump, 79, is among the oldest US presidents in history. He has also been spotted wearing cosmetic patches on his hand, which the White House attributed to repeated handshaking, insisting it is unrelated to the vein condition.
