DOJ Memo Reveals Trump Kept Classified Docs for Business, Showed Secret Map
Trump Kept Classified Docs for Business, Showed Secret Map: DOJ

A newly disclosed Department of Justice memo has revealed allegations that former President Donald Trump retained classified documents connected to his business interests and displayed a top-secret map to a top political aide, according to Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin.

Damning DOJ Memo Details

In a letter addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Raskin, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, stated that the DOJ provided him with a "damning" memo as part of a cache of documents delivered to the committee. The Maryland Democrat described the materials as "cherry-picked" but highlighted their explosive contents.

"These new disclosures suggest that Donald Trump stole documents so sensitive that only six people in the entire U.S. government had access to them," Raskin wrote. "The documents President Trump stole pertained to his business interests, and Susie Wiles, then the CEO of Donald Trump’s super PAC, witnessed President Trump showing off a classified map to passengers on his private plane."

Fresh Scrutiny on Dismissed Case

The revelations have reignited scrutiny around Trump's classified documents case, which was dismissed last year shortly after the Republican president's inauguration. Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the matter.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Independent regarding the allegations. The memo's disclosure adds a new layer to the ongoing political and legal controversies surrounding the former president's handling of sensitive materials.

This development underscores the persistent tensions between congressional oversight and executive actions, particularly concerning national security protocols and the handling of classified information by high-ranking officials.
