Sir Keir Starmer faced protests in Glasgow on Friday evening over his refusal to call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war. The Labour leader was confronted by a train passenger who asked him: 'Keir, how many more children in Palestine have to die before you call for a ceasefire?'
Protesters gathered at Glasgow Central Station on Gordon Street, where Sir Keir was arriving by train, and continued their demonstration outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Congress Road, where he was attending a fundraising dinner.
Police confirmed that a 33-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested and charged with disorder offences during the protests. Sir Keir has argued that a ceasefire would not be appropriate, as it would freeze the conflict and embolden Hamas.
