Declan Rice celebrated Arsenal’s Premier League title triumph with an Instagram post referencing his now-famous line after April’s defeat by Manchester City. Rice was pictured saying “it’s not over” to Martin Odegaard at full-time of the 2-1 loss, a moment of defiance that proved prophetic as Arsenal sealed their first title in 22 years following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Bournemouth.
Arsenal players watched the Bournemouth match at their London Colney training base, and the final whistle sparked wild celebrations. Thousands of fans also gathered at the Emirates Stadium, setting off fireworks and singing. Rice’s season has been pivotal, justifying the record £105m paid for him in 2023.
The midfielder has played in all but one league match, scoring four goals and providing five assists, with over 2,100 passes at nearly 90 per cent accuracy. Defensively, his 70 tackles and 37 interceptions have contributed to the league’s meanest defence alongside David Raya, Gabriel and William Saliba.
Manager Mikel Arteta called Rice one of the world’s best midfielders in January, saying he constantly adds to his game. Arsenal will receive the trophy at Crystal Palace on Sunday before the Champions League final against PSG.
