Transgender Lottery Winner Melissa Ede Plans Hypnotist Career

Melissa Ede, the transgender lottery winner from Hull who scooped £4 million on a scratchcard in December, has announced plans to become a hypnotist. The 57-year-old, formerly known as Les, hopes to be known as 'Mesmerising Melissa' on stage.

Ms Ede recently completed an online 'Hypnosis for Beginners' course, run by accredited Hypnotherapy Trainer Dan Jones, scoring 100%. The £59 course teaches students to 'understand the process of doing hypnotic inductions and communicate hypnotically in everyday situations'.

The former taxi driver decided to take the course just two days after attending The Best of Derren Brown: Underground live show at Hull New Theatre with her partner Rachel Nason. She shared her qualification on Facebook, captioned: 'The first stage of becoming mesmerising Melissa.' When asked if she plans to do live shows, she replied: 'Yeah'.

Ms Ede, who had gender reassignment surgery in 2011, has become a local celebrity in Hull after her windfall. She has four children aged between 19 and 39 and posts bizarre videos online, including one with a bottle of mayonnaise hanging from her chest.
