A lip reader has disclosed an animated exchange between King Charles III and Queen Camilla during the Trooping the Colour carriage procession in central London. The expert, Nicola Hickling, interpreted the conversation from fragments of the live broadcast, revealing that the King told his wife: 'I'm in a right mess.'
According to Ms Hickling, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Charles also said to Camilla: 'Could you get up? It's trapped, I need to pull it out so I am comfortable.' The pair appeared to be discussing a meeting scheduled for Monday, with Charles adding: 'We shall wait and see them on Monday; it must be done.'
The Royal Family presented a united front at the event, which marked the monarch's official birthday. Besides the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Princess Royal with her husband were also present.
The procession, led by the Band of the Household Cavalry, saw Charles and Camilla positioned in the centre of a Sovereign's Escort provided by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Spectators lined The Mall to watch the royal family's carriage procession from Buckingham Palace.
