Fond memories of search and rescue duty

Wearing an RAF military pattern camouflage uniform, Prince William expressed fond memories of his time as a search and rescue pilot at the base from 2010 to 2013. He reunited with former colleagues, including pilot instructor Brian Wills and chief maritime instructor Andy Batchelor, who noted his desire to return to flying.

Speaking to trainees, William shared his enjoyment of his past role and admitted he missed the job and camaraderie. “I really enjoyed my time here and miss the job and the camaraderie,” he said.
