Prince William 'Frustrated' by King Charles's Olive Branch to Prince Harry
Prince William Frustrated by King Charles's Olive Branch to Harry

King Charles has reportedly irritated the Prince of Wales by what is described as a “betrayal” move to welcome The Duke of Sussex back to the United Kingdom this summer, according to royal insiders. The Sussexes are set to fly back to the UK for the first time in four years this July, with King Charles offering them accommodation on one of the royal estates. However, the Prince of Wales is said to be annoyed with his father’s decision to lodge his estranged younger brother, as he will be “his problem when he is King.”

Tensions Between William and Charles Turn Frosty

In a Royal tell-all episode of the Daily Expresso podcast, host JJ Anisiobi told TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan that the King’s acceptance of his youngest son’s return has “irked” Prince William. JJ said: “Royal insiders are saying King Charles is showing a willingness to see his son. That willingness has really irked William, so much that tensions between William and Charles are now frosty.”

Mr Dolan added: “The reason why William is so angry is [Harry is] going to be his problem when he is King. This is why it’s betrayal. Charles is making problems for William, sowing the seeds of division, unwittingly or wittingly, and Harry is loving every minute of it.” He continued: “We know William and Harry have no relationship now, and for Charles to effectively side with Harry after everything Harry’s done - I can understand why William is not happy.”

Frostiness at Trooping the Colour

Whispers of a Royal family feud between King Charles and his eldest son come after reports of frostiness at Trooping the Colour earlier this month, as Prince William learned of the Sussexes’ return hours before the event. “Queen Camilla, King Charles, and the Princess of Wales were not outwardly warm together that day and the reason was not just the protesters. Relations were decidedly frosty backstage,” a source told The Mail on Sunday.

No Contact Since Queen’s Funeral

It is believed that Prince William and his younger brother last spoke during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. The pair have not had any contact since The Duke of Sussex’s shock claims regarding the Royal Family in his 2023 memoir Spare. The ongoing rift continues to cast a shadow over royal family dynamics, with the King’s olive branch potentially deepening divisions rather than healing them.

The Sussexes’ planned return marks a significant moment, as it will be their first visit to the UK since stepping back as senior royals. While King Charles appears willing to reconcile, the move has clearly strained his relationship with his heir, raising questions about the future of the monarchy and family unity.
