A body has been recovered in the search for missing mother-of-three Rachel Booth, 38, who disappeared after a run in the early hours of Saturday. Cheshire Police confirmed that the body, found in a lake in Oakmere, is believed to be that of Rachel, though formal identification has yet to take place.
Rachel was last seen at around 3.50am on Saturday at Sandiway Garage, five miles from her home in Barnton. Staff reported that she bought milk and wine and did not appear distressed. She had left her home for a run earlier that morning and was reported missing when she failed to return.
Police launched a search operation involving waterways and woodland. On Sunday, officers began searching Wild Shore Delamere water park. On Monday, divers recovered a body from a lake in Oakmere. There are no suspicious circumstances, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Rachel's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. They have requested privacy. The water park has closed as a mark of respect. Local residents expressed shock and sadness, with one neighbour saying, 'Those poor children! I feel for them and her husband.'
Former Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley commented that the closure of the water park was likely to deter amateur sleuths and avoid the speculation seen in the Nicola Bulley case. He praised Cheshire Police for learning from that case.
