Enzo Maresca will be unveiled as Manchester City manager on Friday with his first press conference in the job. The Italian succeeded Pep Guardiola, who has left after a decade at the Etihad where he took the club to historic highs.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has praised Maresca for wanting to take on the challenge of replacing such a successful coach - there have been other candidates over the years who have not relished such a prospect - and the new coach has started working with his players this week. Those who weren't at the World Cup have reported for duty at the City Football Academy as the group prepares for three friendlies in Asia before the Community Shield with Arsenal.

At the end of Maresca's first official week in charge, he will have a press conference and take questions from journalists on Friday afternoon. There, he can expect to be asked about his plans for the team and also the latest developments around how his squad is shaping up.
Pre-Season Preparations
Having announced the appointment of Maresca in early July following compensation paid to Chelsea after an acrimonious split for the coach at the end of 2025, City have waited for their new manager to be back through the door and the World Cup over before starting their preparations for the new campaign. The Blues will train in Manchester for a week before most will head off to Hong Kong for the first of three pre-season games in Asia.
Transfer Market Activity
City are also expecting the transfer market to speed up following the end of the World Cup. Elliot Anderson is the only major piece of business done by the club so far this summer but it has been slow across the Premier League despite a few exceptions. With the international tournament over, clubs will start moving more quickly to get the squads they want in time for the new season.
