Manchester City have announced plans to honour Pep Guardiola by renaming the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium the "Pep Guardiola Stand" and erecting a statue in his likeness, following his departure this summer after ten years as manager.
Recognition of an Era
Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak personally informed Guardiola of the club's decision, which recognises his pivotal role in the most successful period in City's history. Sheikh Mansour, the club's owner, highlighted Guardiola's unprecedented achievements, which include winning 20 trophies, among them six Premier League titles and the club's first Champions League trophy.
A Legacy Cemented
The 55-year-old manager is stepping down as the most successful figure in City's history, having led the team for a decade. The newly expanded North Stand, which adds over 7,000 seats, will be fully open for the first time during Guardiola's final match in charge against Aston Villa on Sunday.
This tribute ensures that Guardiola's contribution to the club will be permanently remembered, solidifying his legacy at the heart of Manchester City.
