Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca will speak to the media today ahead of the Premier League trip to Crystal Palace on Friday night. The Blues opened their top flight campaign with a dramatic late 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Etihad and have a swift turnaround for their visit to the capital.
Busy transfer window
Since that win over the Cherries, City have confirmed the exits of Nico Gonzalez and Savinho, with Omar Marmoush set to join Spurs. Ayyoubb Bouaddi has arrived, and a deal for winger Allan is agreed. It promises to be a frantic final few days of the transfer window ahead of Tuesday's deadline, and Maresca will offer the latest as well as providing the injury news ahead of the game at Selhurst Park.
Maresca wants Enzo Fernandez
City are keen on the Chelsea man, and Maresca wants to bring him in this summer. Sporting Director Hugo Viana and the recruitment team have to ensure Maresca is being given the best possible outcomes to achieve the ambitions of a club that has become synonymous with success over the past decade. The sheer volume of transfers this summer makes the task difficult, even if perhaps only Rodri of the departed players would have been in Maresca's first-choice XI, a first XI that the manager wants to strengthen with Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez.
"I think City owe it to Maresca to sign Enzo Fernandez," said the MEN's Chief City Writer Simon Bajkowski on this week's Talking City podcast. "Maresca has lost Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Nathan Ake and on top of that a load of players that weren't playing have all been sold and all need to be replaced. City did say earlier in the window that they are going to replace at least everyone who goes out to give Maresca the best chance."
New third kit revealed
Manchester City have released their third kit for the 2026/27 season, a strip that was designed by a fan using AI. Ahead of the new season, City asked fans to design their own third kits using Puma's AI Creator. Supporters were encouraged to enter written prompts for how they wanted their shirt to look, and the AI tool combined those ideas and created a shirt.
According to City, fans from over 200 countries created 180,000 unique designs for the third kit. Fans were then given the chance to rate the designs. In total, 1.7 million ratings were submitted and, from that information, City and Puma shortlisted ten designs, from which the third kit emerged.
Palace test
City travel to Crystal Palace looking to make it two wins from two and go top of the table. The Blues left it late to beat Bournemouth on Sunday, while Palace were beaten 2-0 by Everton on Saturday. The Eagles are a tough nut to crack on their own patch, and there will be a fervent atmosphere at Selhurst Park for their first home game of the season and the first home match in charge for new manager Pierre Sage.
