Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano told bosses at rival European clubs that the club's legal battle against the Premier League will "take a lot more time".
On Friday, it emerged that City had been found in breach of 114 financial rules, an outcome from a hearing in late 2024. The club is understood to be appealing the decision, suggesting the process is far from complete.
Soriano's comments at Copenhagen meeting
Soriano's comments came during a meeting of the European Football Clubs board in Copenhagen on Monday. According to the Press Association, he felt the need to address the news from last week, stating: "It's taken eight years to get here, and it's going to take a lot more time."
The Premier League first began formally looking into the matter in 2018, with some of the charges relating to City's lack of co-operation with their investigation.
