Stephen Glover has warned the Labour Party against indulging in 'fantasy politics' as it prepares to elect a new leader following its devastating general election defeat. In a scathing analysis, Glover argued that Labour will never govern again unless it reverts to being the moderate and decent party it was for most of its existence.
Glover said the British people do not want to be ruled by socialist extremists who side with other countries over their own. He noted that the last time Labour offered warmed-up Marxism was in 1983, and voters rejected it then just as they did last week.
The commentator praised former prime minister Tony Blair's prophecy that a continuation of Corbynism would 'lead to 15 years more of Tory government'. Blair described Corbynistas as being 'marooned on a fantasy island'.
Glover accused Jeremy Corbyn of being a 'class warrior, 1970s Marxist throwback, IRA sympathiser and protector of anti-Semites'. He said Corbyn should hang his head in ignominy and apologise to decent former MPs who were sacrificed because of his disgraceful affiliations and idiotic policies.
However, Glover expressed hope that Labour will get its act together to fulfil its constitutional duty of being an effective Opposition. He said the country may have to do without a functioning Opposition for a while, and hope that Boris Johnson is held in check by his own people.
