Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday, calling for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign as the war in Gaza enters its sixth month. The protest, one of the largest in recent weeks, saw crowds waving Israeli flags and holding signs demanding new elections.
The protesters also urged the government to negotiate a deal with Hamas to secure the release of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza following the 7 October attack. Many chanted slogans such as 'Bring them home now' and 'Elections now'.
The demonstration reflects growing public frustration with Netanyahu's handling of the conflict, which has resulted in significant casualties and destruction in Gaza, as well as ongoing security concerns for Israel. Organisers estimated the turnout at over 10,000 people, though official figures were not immediately available.
This marks the latest in a series of protests against the government's war strategy, with critics accusing Netanyahu of prioritising political survival over national security. The prime minister has so far resisted calls to step down, vowing to continue the military campaign until Hamas is defeated.
