The Guardian has announced the launch of Radical Thinking with Aditya Chakrabortty, a new interview-style show exploring the ideas and forces transforming the world, with a new guest each week. The first episode airs on Saturday 3 October.
Host and format
The series is hosted by Aditya Chakrabortty, the Guardian's senior economic commentator. Through his regular opinion column, Chakrabortty shares his thoughts on the economy and its impact on society. Earlier this year, he was awarded an MBE for services to public understanding of the economy and wider social issues.
Every Saturday, Chakrabortty will interview major thinkers about the radical ideas that have shaped the current moment and will change politics, economics and society in the future. Over the next six weeks, guests will include authors Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor, former Conservative MP and editor of the Spectator Michael Gove, playwright James Graham, and Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik.
First episode and availability
In the first episode, Chakrabortty is joined by former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis to ask whether winning political power is enough for progressives to create economic change.
Episodes will be released on the Guardian's Politics Weekly UK audio feed wherever podcasts are available. Full episodes will also be available to watch on YouTube.
