Many people across the United Kingdom are set to enjoy several bank holidays between now and mid-July, offering welcome breaks from work. The government has confirmed all remaining bank holidays for 2026, with some variations depending on which nation you reside in.
May Bank Holidays
All four parts of the UK—England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland—will observe the early May bank holiday on Monday, May 4, and the spring bank holiday on Monday, May 25. For England and Wales, these will be the last bank holidays until August.
Scotland's Special One-Off Holiday
Scotland gains an additional bank holiday on Monday, June 15, to celebrate the nation's qualification for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 28 years. Buckingham Palace announced earlier this year: "To mark the achievement of Scotland's men's football team competing at the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 28 years, we consider it desirable that Monday, the fifteenth day of June in the year 2026 should be a bank holiday in Scotland."
Northern Ireland's Bank Holiday
Northern Ireland will mark the Battle of the Boyne bank holiday on Monday, July 13.
Summer Bank Holidays
Looking further ahead, the summer bank holidays will fall on Monday, August 3 for Scotland, and Monday, August 31 for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
